Band 9 IELTS essay sample
Some people opine that success in sports is determined by the muscular strength of the player; others insist that mental strength is more important for performing well on field. In my opinion, physical stamina is more important than mental agility.
On the one hand, mental strength is certainly important while playing a game. Players should be able to focus and they should never lose sight of their goal. Likewise, they must be able to play without losing their heart when the opposition performs better during the match. If they lose heart and become dejected it will further affect their performance and that will cause them to lose the game.
On the other hand, muscle strength is even more important. Physical sport is not a mind game and as such there is not much that a player can achieve by simply being mentally strong. Sportspersons who perform on field require tremendous physical strength and stamina. For example, in football a player should be able to perform for 90 minutes or more at a stretch. They have to run, jump, attack and defend and all of these activities are performed by the body. Without a strong body, they cannot continue playing. Of course, mental stability will help them stay focused without feeling dejected; however, having focus alone is not sufficient to win the game.
In conclusion, players need both physical and mental powers to win a game; however, in athletic events, physical strength is a lot more important than mental ability because success in such sports depend entirely on a player’s ability to play tirelessly for the entire duration of the game.
Some people believe that a gap year between school and university is a good idea, while
others disagree strongly. Consider both sides of this debate and present your own opinion.
It is argued that some individuals opt to take a year’s rest before getting into university and college is a brilliant idea whilst others maintain that . There are arguments on both sides of this debate and I will discuss why I strongly agree with the statement .
On the one hand , opponents of gap year point out that it is a waste of time . Research shows that students will spend time in cyber cafes or doing nothing in house without getting a meaningful job . In the end , they wasted the gap year by doing nothing .Next, most of the people also claim that gay year may lead students change their mind by quit university and college. When students start to earn their expenses, they will have a concept of earning money. Soon , they will think that knowledge is not as important as money . Finally, taking a gap year may increase students’ burden .Students will need to take up to 3 units per year in order to achieve full credits . I believe that it will have a negative impact on the students in daily routine and in their future.
On the controversy , the supporters of gap year believe that it is a good idea because students can gain work experiences .After graduating students will be able to get a job easily because most of the companies required candidates with hands-on experiences . Also , students could use this time to set a goal such as learning a new language. In the future , students can choose to work in different countries without a language barrier . However , I believe that gap years are preferable because it benefits the students , allowing them to take a breath before following years .
To conclude, although others do not suggest students to take a year gap because of it may change their answer to university and make their life more difficult . It is recommended to give students a long term break before stepping into society.

In these era sport considered to be allurin
g activity and seldomly people making a profession however few section of society opine mental fitness is essential while others profound physical stamina just required to be successful. In this essay I shall discuss both the views in the forthcoming paragraphs.
Although there are many sports where individuals have to be active in order to win the championship. To paradigm, take the swimming, where player has to use the body and there is no role played by the mind. Thus fitness is a must in order to win the match. Also other sports such as cricket rugby volleyball ; players have to super fit as extra amount of energy needed so they take protein and hit the gym so that they do not feel fatigue at the time of play.
To add further, few games such as chess needs an active mind and here no physical stamina one has to put but everything rely on mind and in order to compete the opponent mind has to be fitness as trick and tactics has to be decided on spot by seeing the move of the other player. Henceforth in such games mental strength require to get first.
According to my assertion, person has to be fit mentally and physically during the game, if the person is stable by mind subsequently body shall be in favour to execute the task and simultaneously when body and mind work together anything can be achieved. To examplify, TOI conducted the survey between the sportsplayer and even they accounted for sound mind and body when it comes to winning a match.
To recapitulate, mind and body should be sound in sports without soundness game cannot be played as both plays a crucial role in winning the match.

Many people opine that physical fitness is the key to succeed in any sports. On the other hand, some people ague that mental strength is more important than anything. In my view, i strongly believe that both body and mind has been equally attributing for the victory of sportsperson.
Majority of people unanimously think muscle strength is very much required for sports. Moreover, a physically healthy person can demonstrate a great sportsmanship irrespective of the format. For instance, a recent survey confirmed that a football player will cover 15km on field on average. This clearly proclaims that tremendous stamina would certainly bring immense benefits in group sports. At the same time, individual games like weight-lifting would demand enormous strength. Thus physical strength is paramount for any sport.
On flip side, mental fitness of a person has been treated as the key factor for success. There are many sports which does not warrant body support. In order to be successful in sports, one must be mentally strong and should possess perseverance and determination. For a moment, a chess players never have to think about their fitness rather they should concentrate on strategy. Though few games focusses on body strength still it is essential to have proper planning and coordination.
To summarise with my opinion, I strongly believe that both physical and mental strength equally play important role to be a better sportsperson. Despite the body strength, every player should develop their mental strength to encounter negative results.
This seems band 6.5 to me. Grammar needs improvement.
In terms of sports, there is an everlasting debate about whether mental or physical condition should firstly be taken into consideration. From my point of view, both factors have a profound impact on such activities, but it is a priority to be strong and healthy.
On the one hand, feelings do affect sportspeople as they are forced to endure a huge amount of pressure from numerous sources. For instance, when it comes to football players participating in international competitions such as the Euro Cup or World Cup, expectations of motivators back in their hometowns or inside stadiums are unavoidable. In order to deal with that, they must be trained to overcome the pressure so that goals can be achieved.
However, I believe it is advisable that physical health should be paid more attention to. Various kinds of sport require training under harsh circumstances in an attempt to help sportsmen compete with a stable and consistent level. Take football as an example, not many individuals are capable of playing for 90 minutes and even professionals sometimes face physical issues during the period. In a recent match of Euro Cup 2020, a player from Denmark suddenly collapsed, shocking his teammates and fans in the stadium. Fortunately, by prompt support, he recovered from the deadly situation, but is predicted to be unable to pursue his career any longer. Keeping fit therefore plays a crucial role in sport.
To sum up, sport participators are advised to prepare the necessary mental and physical strength, especially the second one from my viewpoint. Additionally, the daily routine is also needed to be considered as it also has effect on players’ well-being.

People in all modern societies use drugs, but today’s youth are expertimenting with both legal and illegal drugs, and at an increasingly early age. Some sociologists claim that parents and other members of society often set a bad example.
Discuss the causes and some effects of widespread drug use by young people in modern day society. Make any recommendations you feel are necessary to help fight youth drug abuse.
Essay
Over the past few decades, there has been an undeniable increase in the usage of drugs by the younger generations. Many sociologists argue that parents and other influencers in the society are to blame but many psychologists counter argue that the mental stress and competition is responsible. However, the sad reality is that many youths are inclining more and more towards use of illegal drugs without understanding its adverse impact on their physical and mental well-being. In this essay, we will elucidate the causes of the drugs and its side-effects.
Firstly, children learn from what their parents and elders in the society portray. Thus, when parents and elders in the society take the drugs and alcohol in excess, the children start believing that it is normal to intake such harmful drugs. As a consequence, the children start getting addicted to such illegal drugs at a young age. The effect of such addiction is so extreme that people start displaying strong agitating behavior. Furthermore, this addiction can even cost a user his or her life.
Secondly, many youths use drugs as a means to cope up with the mental strain resulting from increased competition, desire to do well in life, work pressure and so on. They believe that drugs can help them tackle their anxiety however, they tend to forget that it is a temporary solution which will cause them serious damage in the long-run. They start relying on drugs to overcome their problems which makes them mentally weak and incapable. Moreover, they lose their will to fight and start isolating themselves from their friends and families.
Hence, the usage of drugs needs to be controlled, which can be done by educating the youth regarding the effects of drugs that can even put their lives in jeopardy. Not only that, but the government should enact stricter laws regarding usage and smuggling of illegal drugs. In addition, the parents should also refrain themselves from using such drugs and help children gain an understanding regarding its negative effects
To conclude, drug use is an extremely serious social problem which requires collective efforts of the society and the government to overcome it.
