Band 9 IELTS Essay Sample

According to some people regular use of computers has more negative than positive impacts on children. I do not agree with this view. While I do admit that excessive use of computers can harm children in many ways, these gadgets are also crucial for their success and hence we cannot stop them from using computers.

Computers have their downsides. Children can play games and watch movies on them. Needless to say, it is quite normal for children who use the computer every day to get addicted to it. If they spend too much time on their computer, they will lose their focus on studies and their grades will suffer. Children who use the computer for long hours are also more likely to develop health problems like obesity because of their sedentary lifestyle. Excessive screen time can also cause vision problems in children.

On the flip side, in this day and age when computers are used in all spheres of life, it is foolish to stop children from using them. They need proficiency in computers to be able to find a good job in future. Actually, nowadays, they need computers to even score good marks in exams. Hence instead of preventing children from using computers, parents and teachers should encourage moderate use. Children should be allowed to use the computers for one or two hours at the most. Parents must also ensure that children are not wasting time playing games on the computer or accessing online content that is not suitable for them. If used wisely, computers and the internet help children with their studies. Actually, there are numerous educational websites designed to make learning fun and interactive.

To conclude, after analysing both sides of the argument it is not hard to see that moderate use of computers has more beneficial than negative effects on children. However, excessive and irresponsible use of computers is harmful and hence it must be prevented.

Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, computers have become an important part of our day to day / everyday life. Some people argue that spending time on computers has more bad effects than good effects on children. I certainly agree with this statement. However, I believe that using them wisely can help in overcoming the disadvantages it offers.

To begin with, there are severe health issues that youngsters face due to overuse of computers. Increased use of computers can lead to eye strain and vision problems in children. Moreover, youngsters start playing online games on computers and thus stay glued to their seats for longer duration. Furthermore, this leads to obesity causing diabetes and other health issues which can be quite detrimental for their lives.

However, use of computers and laptops does provide some pragmatic benefits. Children can access a variety of information related to their academic study and can be useful for gaining new skills which can be quite fruitful for their life. In addition to this, they can carry out online projects through various sources on internet and interact with teachers and scholars for better understanding of their subjects. Parents should ensure that they monitor the activities of their kids and keep a tab on the time they spend on these devices and provide necessary guidance as and when needed so children do not become addicted to it.

In conclusion, computers benefit children in many ways, but their overuse can be detrimental. By using computers under parental supervision and limiting the hours spent on them, children can overcome the negative effects to a great extent and gain from this wonderful technology.

The computer plays an important role in our daily life. Most of the government and private sector’s work is being done on computers. It is very necessary that everyone should have some knowledge about computers. The above statement shows that it does positive impact on the kids if they use it in their daily life.

To begin with, today’s era is a computer era. Computer technology is rapidly growing in the world. Computer helps children in So Many Ways such as study, sports, and entertainment, etc. They can attend online classes from their home and do not need to go anywhere. For example, during the covid-19 pandemic all schools were closed. All students were not able to go to the schools. So they all were attending their classes online on the daily basis. So with the help of this, they were saved from the coronavirus at their homes.

Furthermore, if children use the computer on regular basis they will learn so many new things. Their research ability will improve which can help them in the future. Some children face difficulties in their studies and they can watch a video on YouTube regarding a particular topic. They might explore so many other things apart from their academic education. For Instance, If a child wants to learn a guitar so he/she can learn it on YouTube. Or there are so many other guitar trainers who are teaching the basics of guitar and they charge the money for that.

To conclude, after analyzing both statements, children should spend a minimum of 1 to 3 hours daily on the computer. Their parents must monitor them so that they do not do wrongful things on it.
