Encouraging children to do a part time job during their leisure time has become a common practice nowadays. Even though it teaches children the importance of time management and hard work, it has some drawbacks as well.

Firstly, doing a part time job will help children to understand and experience the difficulties and hardships their parents endure to raise them.  Consequently, they will learn to appreciate the hard work of their parents. They may also demonstrate greater willingness to share some of the responsibilities. Working a part time job will also teach children how to manage their time. This is a crucial skill to learn because time management plays an important role in our life. People who manage their time efficiently achieve greater success than those who waste it on trivial pursuits. Working part time also helps children earn some pocket money. They can use it to finance their studies or spend it on their interests. There is yet another advantage to working part time. They will learn to work in a team and interact with people from different walks of life. It improves their interpersonal skills and boosts their confidence levels.

On the other hand, there are also some downsides to working part time. First, many young people already have a packed schedule. They are busy with their studies and other extracurricular activities. If they have to find time for a part time job, it can affect their studies. They will also have no time for leisurely activities. This can be quite stressful for young people. Another disadvantage is that when they start working, at least some of them will lose their interest in studies. They may quit and choose to work full time. Unfortunately, this affects their career prospects because without university education, they cannot find a good job.

In conclusion, even though a part time job makes young people independent, confident and hard working, it has some downsides too. It limits the amount of time they have for leisurely activities and may ultimately increase their stress levels unless they learn to manage their time efficiently.
