IELTS Writing: Sample Letter
The first writing task in the General module of the IELTS test is always a letter. And hence it would be a good idea to practice writing letters before attempting the test. Here is a sample letter writing task.
Write a letter in response to the vacancy of an English teacher advertised in the Times of India on 6th July 2011.
You should write at least 150 words. You can spend up to 20 minutes on this task.
Dear Sir / Madam
I am writing this letter in response to the vacancy of an English teacher advertised in the Times of India on 6th July 2011. This is the kind of job opportunity I have been looking for because I am very keen on building a career in education.
I am a qualified teacher with a post graduate degree in English. I believe that I am eligible for this job because I have extensive experience in teaching. I have been teaching at a private school for over five years. I am also familiar with the psychology of children.
The reason why I am applying for this job is that it will provide me ample scope for professional growth. Although I enjoy my current job, I no longer find it challenging. It is also not a permanent position. I assure you that if I am selected I will do my job conscientiously.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
