Band 9 IELTS essay sample
Generation gap is nothing new and it is not uncommon for children to have radically different views from their parents and grandparents on many aspects of life. Most of the times, these differences pertain to areas such as relationships, career and health and sometimes they do cause problems.
To begin with, young people have a rather carefree and casual attitude towards marriage and relationships. They are more self-centred and insist on having their space in a relationship. Unfortunately, this leads to more divorces and broken homes. Old people, on the other hand, consider marriage as a sacred institution. It hurts them when their children get into casual relationships for fun. In many cases, parents also disapprove of their children’s career choices. Every parent wants their children to have a safe and secure source of income. Young people, on the other hand, do not mind taking risks. Many of them want to be their own boss and start up. Unfortunately, parents often discourage the entrepreneurial ambitions of their children because they believe that launching one’s own venture is risky. Young people and their parents also tend to differ on matters concerning health. While the older generation was quite conscious about health, youngsters tend to take it for granted.
While it is quite common and normal for parents and children to have different opinions on many things, sometimes these differences do cause problems. For example, young people who are not serious about relationships are unlikely to have a stable family life and their children are the worst affected by this. Studies have shown that children coming from dysfunctional families are more likely to get into anti-social activities. Needless to say, a stable family is the fundamental unit of a healthy society and it is important for young people to give due importance to their relationships just like their parents do. Young people should also learn something from their parents about the importance of eating well and staying healthy. As for career choices, in my opinion, it is important for parents to trust their children and their vision.
To conclude, it is quite normal for young people and their parents to have different views and opinions on many matters. Sometimes this does cause problems and in such situations, it is better for young people to listen to the sage advice of their parents.

it is true that people are totally different from their parents. they have different prespectives on friendship as well as eating habits and spending habits. of course these vraiability cause broplems, so in this essay I am going to explain it.
there are several differences in generations. To begin with, the way that childrens look into the concept of friendship varies from their parents. teenage tend to blend in peer groups based on how fun and exciting the group is. in contrast, parents set value on human dignity and appreciate long lasting relationships. they also have a healthy appetite,in another word, their food habbits mostly includes home-cooked foods prepared from fresh produces. on the other hand, childrens tend to eat junk foods. it is hard to get them to eat nourishing meals because they think they are boring. at last but not least, there is a huge contrast in spending habits among parents and their offsprings. while parents tend to budget their incomes, youngesters would like to throw their money around.
These variation in beliefs and style of life creat problems. firstly, being careless about the type of person they form a friendship, may leads to fit in criminal gangs, as a result, the rate of juvenile delinquency will increase. secondly, desireing to eat alot of fast foods and ready meals may cause serious health problems ,such as ; blood pressure, heart disease and obesity. finally, irresponsibility about life expenses along with wasting money will be the root of poverty and social problems.
in concludion, it is an undeniable fact that there are alot of contrasts between two different generations in terms of habits such as ; eating and spending, as well as beliefs about friendship. As we know , these diferences may cause insurmountable problems.

thank you 🌸
“Time changes everything” this is true for everything including the perspectives and attitude of people. A clear contrast can be seen between the people for 2 generations. As part of this essay, I will discuss two important aspects of life and how it has changed overtime and what are the risks with modern approach.
Firstly, I would like to discuss about social group. The influence of the social surrounding on the development of an individual is crucial. The current generation spends most of the time with virtual friends and virtual groups in the internet than actual friends and actual group. This has led them to have a virtual lifestyle which is sometimes far more different from their reality. This kind of setup often proved to have a derimental effect on their individual and often leads to depression. The current generation should learn to understand the difference between virtual and real world and embrace their life with truth.
Another major concern with the current generation is the choice of their role model. Atleast, in this case, it is nothing to do with individuals, but it is of their youth and immeature age. The world is a cruced place. The so-called successful people nowadays are “online celebrities”. These people often have low moral and less ethics, but they potray it as the reason for their success and this could be a wrong influence on youngsters. Youngsters get biased by the immediate success they see by adopting this attitude and they end up believing that it is true. But this only makes things worst.
In conclusion, youngsters should understand the fact that the exposure they have of the world is limited and should try to validate their surrounding. If they feel confused, they should always reach out to their eldors and they would guide them in the right direction.
