Band 7.5 IELTS letter sample
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to draw your attention to some incorrect information in an article published in your newspaper. The article that I am writing about is the one about writer Madhavikutti published in the Literature section of your newspaper on July 16th.
The article describes her as a Malayalam writer. While it is true that she has written several short stories and novels in Malayalam, she was also a prolific English poet. In English, she wrote under the name Kamala Das whereas in Malayalam she used the penname Madhavikutti. Your article makes no mention of the literary works of Kamala Das. There are also some incorrect remarks about her personal life.
It is really unfortunate that a reputed newspaper like yours does not give adequate attention to details.
I request you to rectify the errors promptly as it does not give her the credit due to her. If possible, republish the article with correct information. If that is not possible, at least make an apology to your readers with the correct details.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours sincerely
Akshay Menon

Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing this letter to apprise you about some misleading information in your newspaper article published on July 24th. The article that I am referring to is the one about Intranium Company and its founder.
For your information I have been working with Intranium Company for more than 10 years. Hence, I know the history of the company as well as its founder. In your article, you mentioned that the founder CEO of the company was a man with a business background. That is not true. The founder was a woman with a master’s in computer science. She is currently the Chairperson Emeritus. She is also famous for her charitable work none of which is mentioned in the article.
I hope you can correct the information immediately by making a notification through various channels available such as social media or radio to prevent confusion among readers. Beside that, please reproduce the article again in next edition with accurate information. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me through this email [email protected].
Expecting prompt action
Yours sincerely,
