Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample

Dear Sir,

My name is Vishal Singh and I booked my flight ticket with your airline on 20th April. I am writing this letter to inform you that certain changes to the airport guidelines caused me to miss my flight from Hyderabad to Delhi.

There were mainly two major problems. Firstly, due to insufficient security personnel it took me two hours to complete my security check. If that was not bad enough, there are no separate security check points for domestic and international travelers and hence it takes twice as much longer to complete the process.

Missing the flight was a devastating experience for me. As a result, I was unable to reach Delhi to attend my own sister’s wedding. You can imagine how embarrassing it would have been for my family members to not have their elder son at the wedding.

To resolve this immediately, I would urge the airlines to initiate a full refund of my airline ticket for the inconvenience caused to me. I expect this to be resolved within the next five business days. If this matter remains unresolved I will be forced to take legal action.

I look forward to hearing from you

Yours faithfully,

Vishal Singh

You have recently flown to another country on a business trip. You were satisfied with the flight, but didn’t like services at the airport. Write a letter to the airport manager and say

    – Give your flight details.
    – Why were you disappointed?
    – Suggest some improvements to the airport services.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter with regard to an issue I had to face with the service at the airport last week while I was on my business trip.

On may 5th I took a flight from Vancouver to Toronto. The flight number was AC1409 and I must say that it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not only was it faster than the expected time but also, the service provided by the staff was amazing.

On the other hand, the satisfaction was dramatically reduced once I arrived at the airport since my luggage did not appear anywhere. Furthermore, I could not find any personnel that could help me with this problem because for some weird reason, employees do not work between 3 to 5 am. In addition, the airport does not provide Wifi so I could not contact customer service.

For the aforementioned reasons, I was thinking that it would be a good idea to operate the airport by shifts. As a result, travelers can always find someone to help them regardless of the time they are in the place.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Yours faithfully,
    Miguel Chaves

    Dear Sir or Madam,
This well considered letter is regarding my missed flight number AE121 due to miscoordination at the airport.
Let me explain the situation in detail. There was some fault in scanning machine at the seat allocation counter of your airline which caused a delay in my check-in process. But your staff at check-in counter did not informed the flight crew and they took flight without me.
I was going to Delhi for the acquisition of raw material required in my organization. This is extremely rare raw material and due to my missed flight, they have sold it to my competitor. Fortunately, we have found a new seller of same raw material in Chennai.
I would like you to book me a priority ticket to Chennai tomorrow without any extra cost. Additionally, it would be great if you can ask your employees to have a better coordinator among them because it can cause someone to lose his job.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Yours Truly
    Rajinder Sandhu

    Dear sir or madam,

I am writing this letter to inform you that l have missed my international flight from Dubai to London on 15th March due to mismanagement at the airport. I request you to rectify the problem and arrange earlier flight ticket.

I was going to attent an important meeting at my London office. I have booked my flight ticket two months ago. My ticket number was TC0098. My scheduled time was 3.30 PM and l reached two hours prior at the airport. When I have completed all procedures one security personnel approached and heled in the security room. He asked some questions regarding my journey and detained me for a while to clear the documents. However it took extra hour to complete whole process, the clearance has already been made so l missed my flight due to this.
It was an unavoidable meeting for the company. I was appointed to present our new project, so it will affect my company adversely. My company will face some consequences if l could not attend the meeting. I was informed my employer immediately and he asked me to take next flight. But unfortunately no flights are available today. So kindly arrange my ticket tomorrow. I would like you to understand the problem and book my flight on 16th march without imposing any new ticket charge on me.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Yours faithfully,

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to bring to your notice about the incident that happened last week in the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

I was supposed to fly to Canada on 10th September for business purposes. But, unfortunately I could not travel because I slipped and hurt my back while I was rushing towards the security check. The floor was wet and there was no sign board placed, because of which I had a bad fall and was unable to board the flight as I was in so much pain that time. The cleaning staff forgot to put the cautious board which led to this situation.

I had to attend a very important business meeting with our clients and we had to postpone the meeting to next month because of this incident. I would request you to take the onus of the situation that happened to me and kindly refund the airfare. I request you to kindly look into the safety and security of the passengers.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Samantha Rao
