Band 8 IELTS letter sample

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to report lost property. I lost a file containing my academic and work-related certificates on your Church Gate fast local train on October 25th. These documents are really important for me and I cannot afford to lose them. My file is made of fake leather and is brown in colour. The compartments inside are duly labelled as education, work and extra-curricular.

Let me explain my situation. As the train was heavily crowded, I put / kept my folder on the luggage rack in the first compartment. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the file before getting off at Andheri at about 9.30 am on October 5th.

Could you check with the Lost and Found department to see if they have got my file? If you have got the file, I will come and collect it from your Andheri office.

Thank you for your consideration.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Deepika Mehta
