You Found Problems With An Expensive Item You Bought | Band 8 IELTS Letter Sample

You recently bought a large expensive item but when it was delivered to your home you found some problems with it. Write a letter to the manager of the shop. In your letter:

  • Give details of what you bought
  • Describe the problems with your item
  • Say what you want the shop to do

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a patron of your store, ‘The Home Shop’. Last week, I ordered a wooden baby cot in pink color with the Hello Kitti theme for my daughter. As the product was bulky, I made full payment and opted for home delivery. I was positive that with the professional staff of your store, nothing would go wrong with my order; hence I did not double check it.

To my surprise, when I received the shipment at my home yesterday, it turned out to be completely different in design and color. The theme is Spiderman and the color is red instead of Hello Kitti and pink.

I would request you to send someone over and collect the wrong package from my house. Also, send the actual item that I had ordered at the earliest to my address. In case, the same product is out of stock, I demand a full refund from you.

    Dear Sir or Madam,

    I am writing to show my dissatisfaction towards the recent purchase, I made from your shop.

    I had visited your shop last week to enquire about a new refrigerator. After being consulted from your sales executive, I decided to go for a 34 litres, grey colour, Samsung refrigerator. Furthermore, I paid the complete amount by card, and had opted for the free home-delivery of the product.

    I have just received the product, and it is not in the best shape, as I expected. It has multiple marks on the main body and handle, and the inside console looks un-clean. Your team has actually delivered the same product that was on display when I visited your shop.

    I had never expected that your team will deliver the display product to a customer. I would request you to get the delivered fridge picked up, and send across a new item in the next 2 days.

    I look forward to an earliest action on this.

    Dear Watson,
    I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction with the delivery of 55 Inch Sony Smart TV I bought from your showroom recently. As the product was not available in your showroom I have booked the TV with full payment and opted for home delivery.
    However, the TV you delivered to my house has so many problems. Firstly, I am not able to connect Wifi internet with TV. Since, it is the smart TV so it should connect with the wifi router smoothly. However, whenever I tried to connect, it gets hanged. Secondly, there few scratches on the left bottom of the screen which is clearly visible in the daylight.
    I am a regular customer of your showroom and I ordered many electronic items from your shop in the past but I never experienced such a discomfort service.
    I request you to please return back this defective TV and deliver the new TV before 15 July so that I can watch ICC Cricket world cup final on my new TV.

    Dear Sir or Madam,

    I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a product that I have bought from your store at 11th Baverly Road, Texas.
    On 21st May 2019, I bought a Sony LED television, which is 56 inches wide and has six inbuilt speakers to provide surround sound effect.

    At your showroom, the product worked fine. However, after the delivery, when we started to use it, we experienced problems with the sound. Intermittently the sound fades away if the TV is switched on for more than an hour.

    I never expected such problems to occur as I have paid a premium price for it and your salesman also assured me of the quality. I request you to kindly arrange for a pickup and also for the refund, as I am not interested in trying another piece from the same manufacturer.
