Band 8 IELTS letter sample

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to report a few problems with the mixer grinder that I bought from your store last Thursday. It is a ‘Butterfly’ mixer grinder of white colour. The main problem is that the grinder does not work at) level 3 which is its top speed. While testing the product in the shop, I did not test it in all 3 speed levels, but once we started using it in real time we found the defect. Another problem is that the smallest jar does not close properly and because of this the content of the jar spills out.

When I contacted your customer service I did not receive any proper response and finally after many follow up calls they promised to send a technician to rectify this issue, but unfortunately he has not arrived till now. This caused inconvenience to my family because we have not been able to use the product for the last one week.

I would request you to send a technician as early as possible, since it is so urgent for my family. If the problem is with the manufacturer, I would request you to replace this one with a defect-free product.

Thank you for your valuable time. I look forward to receiving your reply.

Yours Sincerely

    Dear Manager of ABC shop,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with an item that I recently purchased from your store in City Mall center.

The item is a silver microwave oven, LG AB12 model, and although it is quite a popular model from
a reputable brand, it stopped working after only a week.

I was trying to defrost 100 grams of red meat when I set it on 300W power mode and started it. After only a few
seconds it generated a deafening noise and the engine got stuck for no sensible reason.
I am sure you can understand how saddened I felt when I faced this issue with this appliance.

I have contacted Ms.Robbins, your sales assistance, but when I asked for a replacement based
on the warranty terms of the microwave, she refused to address this issue. Had I known about
this poor customer service, I would have never walk to your store.

I believe this issue deserves your immediate attention and I hope to receive either a new item,
with perfect working condition, or to receive a full refund credited to my Visa card. Furthermore,
I hope you would reconsider your customer care policy in order to provide better services to the customers in future.

    Yours faithfully,
    Ron Smiths,

    Respected sir,

I am writing to express my sheer disappointment with my recent purchase from your store.

A few days ago, I bought a Phillips grinder from your shop. Due to innumerable settings, it was not possible to go through each of them to test before purchasing. However, while actually using it, it has been observed by me that a few of its functions are not working properly or are not working at all.

After realizing it, I called customer service, at first they refused to refund or replace the item straight away, however, after several follow-up calls, they agreed to send a technician to my place the next day but nothing is heard from their side even after ten days.

I would request you to either replace my item with a new one or grant me a full refund if replacement is not available, moreover, you should consider improving your customer service to provide a better buying experience to your customers.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Yours sincerely,
    Gurwinder Singh.
