Band 7 IELTS letter sample
Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Rachel Green. I am studying Business Management at the University of Sydney. My enrolment number is 248319. I borrowed three books – Strategic Management volumes 1 and 2 and Financial Management volume 1 – from the library on the 21st of November and I am supposed to return them on 21st December.
I am writing this letter to request for extension of the return deadline till the end of January due to family emergency. I am from Perth and currently living in Sydney to complete my education. My grandmother is alone at Perth and has been unwell for the past couple of days. Our family friend accompanied my grandmother to the hospital where she was found to be infected with pneumonia. She is hospitalized now.
My parents are currently away on a business trip to Canada and will need a few weeks to come back. Until they come back, I am the closest relative present in Australia. Hence, I will be traveling to Perth to take care of her for now. This emergency does not allow me to return my books before the deadline. I will be able to renew the books online for two more weeks after the initial one month. The online renewal is possible only once. For the next renewal as per library rules I am required to bring the books in person for renewal for two more weeks. As this is a family emergency I will most probably have to be in Perth till the end of January. I herewith request you to help me renew my books till the end of January without the penalty or fine for the delay.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
