Dear Ross,
Hope this letter finds you in radiant health and the best of spirits. I am writing this letter to invite you to visit my country / town on the auspicious occasion of “Navaratri”. Participating in this festival is a great way for you to become familiar with the Indian culture and traditions. I am sure this experience will benefit your project on the Culture of India.
Navaratri is basically a nine-day festival dedicated to Goddess Amba. For your understanding, it is nine nights of pure fun and traditional Garba dancing. Of course, it is celebrated in different ways in different parts of India, but in Gujarat, my home state, it is all about dancing and having fun. While, Garba is usually played by clapping hands while moving in a circle, some dancers play it with different props like hand weaved woolen umbrella, pots, lamps, and so forth. I am sure you will definitely enjoy it. Besides, for foodies like us, there will be fun-fair outside the playground where you’ll find food stalls of different dishes from traditional Gujarati to continental.
As I know that you wouldn’t feel comfortable living in a joint family, I booked a nice hotel just near my place for ten days from 10th November to 20th November. That way we can meet each other anytime. I assure you we will make it a memorable holiday for you.
