With the advent of internet era, a number of individuals prefer to communicate online instead of having face-to-face conversation. Some argue that conventional communication is obsolete. While I partially agree with this statement, I tend to believe that traditional way of communication is beneficial as well.
On the one hand, the main advantage of personal communication is the non-verbal talks. With the help of body language, we can get a better understanding of the meaning and this reduces the chances of misunderstanding to a great extent. What is more, talking face-to-face is suitable for confidential meetings. Needless to say, online teleconferences are being controlled and overseen constantly. Despite the fact that application inventors have already launched encrypted meeting, cyber-hackers can still obtain important documents. Hence, live conversation is characterized by safety and reliability.
However, online conversation is advantageous for several reasons. To start with, nowadays, people are living a hectic life; breadwinners have to earn enough money for the whole families, causing them to work in locations far away from their homes. In these circumstances, online interactions are beneficial for them to stay connected to their near and dear ones living far away. Furthermore, individuals are able to post pictures and update their feelings. This can be seen by their acquaintances and trigger interactions; thus, their relationship with friends can be improved.
In conclusion, although it is undeniable that talking via the internet brings a great number of benefits, the positive effects that accompany a live conversation are not negligible. Both of them are effective means of communication and one cannot really replace the other.
