Band 6.5 IELTS essay sample

It is often argued that advertisement plays a more critical role in selling products than the real need of people. In my opinion, it would be wrong to overlook the contribution of advertising to surging demands.

On the one hand, regardless of the real need of people, advertisement encourages them to purchase unnecessarily. For example, everywhere we look, there are various ways of advertising, from large billboards on the streets to small pieces of paper in post boxes and even actors who advert products during a TV show. These advertisements persuade people to buy products that they do not even need.

On the other hand, a well-timed advertisement could be advantageous because it reminds you when new developments in technology emerge. For example, being aware of new features added to a smartphone, such as a heartbeat counter during exercise, could be beneficial because it helps people schedule their proper daily physical activity. Also, it offered many
job opportunities to people. Moreover, advertisements introduce helpful things that people
sometimes cannot find easily in shop stores.

To summarize, in my opinion, advertising has more perks than drawbacks and often helps us to get familiar with new products and developments.
