In the 21st century, remote destinations with extreme conditions such as deserts or Polar Regions have become popular among globe-trotters. This essay will discuss the benefits as well as dangers of visiting these places.

One of the obvious benefits of visiting extreme places is the combined feelings of achievement and adventure it fosters. Completing a successful trip to a harsh destination helps people to believe that they can achieve anything. For instance, a study has found that it is easier for people to navigate their everyday life once they have survived harsh heat and cold conditions while traveling. Another advantage is the stunning natural beauty of these regions. Despite harsh environments, they can be incredibly beautiful with panoramic views untouched by civilization and stretched to the horizon under awe-inspiring night skies. In addition, such places offer glimpses of natural wildlife making them the perfect place for photography enthusiasts.

On the other hand, there are inherent dangers in visiting isolated places. Poisonous desert snakes and scorpions which can instantly kill anyone with a bite are one of them. Traveling to extreme places means that there is little margin of error. For example, if you have an accident, the nearest hospital could be days away and you are totally reliant on a limited stock of food and water. It is also very easy to get lost in these landscapes since there are few landmarks to help you orient yourself. In short, you are highly dependent on yourself or your companion for survival.

To summarise, traveling to extreme places can bring a sense of accomplishment to those brave enough to visit them, along with a spirit of adventure and exposure to breathtaking natural beauty. But the dangers of such destinations mean that you need to be alert and well-prepared at all times.
