There Is An Increasing Amount Of Noise In Our Daily Lives Today

IELTS essay about increasing amount of noise

Sample essay

Noise pollution has become an everyday nuisance which both the government and the citizens need to ponder about and find a solution for, at the earliest. Loud sounds not only cause disturbance to the elderly but also scare away the animals who are clueless about the source of it. I shall elaborate on the harmful consequences of noise pollution and suggest some measures to improve the situation in the forthcoming paragraphs.

Studies have shown that exposure to loud noises can cause various health problems in humans. For instance, in India, during a festival named ‘Diwali’, the bursting of firecrackers has become a common ritual across the country. Although the significance behind this custom may be positive, it does more harm than good. Firstly, it makes the older people who are at the most vulnerable stage of their life uncomfortable. Secondly, it can frighten the wildlife, as well the pet animals, causing them to go wayward. Honking is another cause of noise pollution in cities. Excessive blaring of horns leads to a lot of disruption and could even affect hearing in the long run.

However, solutions are available to tackle these problems. The government should enact laws to restrict honking in congested areas. They need to assign more traffic police officers during peak hours to manage the congestion. The general public should avoid celebrations that involve crackers, so as to not disturb the aged people and animals. Moreover, individuals who party with blaring music should be reprimanded and charged.

Based on the elaborate discussion in the paragraphs above, we can conclude that increasing sound pollution is a nuisance for older people, as well as animals, and affect their hearing ability. The solution to this lies in the hands of both the government and civilians.
