The data provides information about the sources and the distribution of money allocated to the police department in the UK in 2017 and 2018. Overall, the maximum funding came from the federal government and most of it was spent on salaries of officers and staff. It is clear that the police budget increased by 13.9m pound sterling from 2017 to 2018. The largest portion of the funding was given by the central government in both years. The national government allocated 177.8 million pounds in 2018 which was higher than its previous year’s contribution by 2.5 million pounds. The least contribution came from other sources such as grants. While in 2017, it was 38 million pounds, it rose marginally to 38.5 million pounds in 2018. When it comes to spending, salary expenses were the highest accounting for 75% in 2017 and 69% in 2018. On the other hand, the spending on technology nearly doubled from 8% in 2017 to 14% in 2018. The expenses on building and transport remained the same in both years at 17%.
