In the contemporary world, the number of obese patients has dramatically increased. It is especially affecting the children who belong to developed countries. There are numerous reasons for this issue such as sedentary lifestyle and overeating of junk food. Unfortunately, this impacts the physical and mental health of children. Yet, this could be easily tackled by encouraging children to do outdoor activity and reducing overeating and screen time.
In the modern era, most children are well equipped with technology and they hardly play any outdoor game. They are more likely to spend their time on screens. As a result, they hardly do any physical activity which leads to deleterious impact on their physical health. Furthermore, children nowadays, have more craving for unhealthy food such as cola, burgers, pizza; hence, they eat high calorie food with no nutrients value.
Undoubtedly, gaining excessive weight has bad consequences for / effects on children’s physical as well as mental health. Obesity is the most crucial risk factor for developing diabetes and early puberty. For instance, a recently released article by AIIMS Delhi clearly states that there is a tremendous rise in the number of juvenile diabetic patients. It is a cause of concern not only for parents but also for national governments.
In conclusion, there is an alarming rise of overweight children especially in countries like the USA. This is caused by the sedentary lifestyle and an increase in the consumption of processed food.
