Media play a crucial role in disseminating news and information. Some people feel that instead of focusing on bad news, they should give more importance to feel good stories. I fully agree with this view.

To start with, the news and information that we consume on a regular basis has a tremendous impact on our mental health and outlook. If we hear negative news all the time, we will develop a pessimistic attitude towards life and world. This does not help anyone. Furthermore, if an individual keeps on watching or listening to bad news like gun violence, suicides or crime, they will be full of stress and anxiety. This news mentally affects millions of people .Also, youngsters are curious and when they read about violence all the time, they may assume that it is acceptable or normal. For example, American media always broadcasts news about gun violence; however, this media coverage has not lessened this crime; instead, it has made it more common.

By contrast, if we are exposed to ‘good’ news, we will start viewing the world in a positive light. This builds trust and confidence. Exposure to good news makes people happier and improves their outlook. It even encourages them to commit good deeds themselves. For example, if someone reads about an act of charity, they are more likely to emulate those acts. This is good of the whole world.

In conclusion, media have to publish both good and bad news. However, oftentimes, it prioritizes bad news instead of good news and it has to change because exposure to good news is essential for a healthy society.
