Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample

In today’s modern world, the advancements made by the humans have taken a toll on the world’s ecosystem. The increasing urbanization is leading to deforestation due to which various animals are losing their habitat. This is leading to the extinction of many species and loss of biodiversity. The best way to compensate for the damage done is to create more biodiversity parks and preserve the existing forests.

It is a well-known fact that flora and fauna depend on each other for survival in diverse ways. However, the ecosystem is being brutally damaged in the name of urbanization and development. A lot of forests have been cleared for setting up manufacturing plants and residential complexes. As a result, the animals have lost their natural breeding environment and are forced to come out openly in the urban areas where they either get killed or are unable to survive. Moreover, humans now have an inclination towards the hybrid plants which are low maintenance and need fewer resources to survive. Such plants are mostly used for aesthetic purposes and do not provide habitat to animals.

It is high time the government formed strict rules and regulations to prevent deforestation. It is imperative to save the forests as they provide the natural habitat for various plants and animal species which further support the ecosystem. The government should also set up biodiversity parks in the urban areas to compensate for / make up for the damage done already.

To conclude, rapid urbanization and deforestation are the main factors leading to the loss of diversity. The governments can reverse the damage by building more wildlife sanctuaries and enacting laws that strictly ban deforestation and poaching.
