The inception of ecommerce has changed the modes of shopping tremendously over the last couple of decades. Some people believe that this trend will eventually make real shops vanish. However, this essay does not agree with this assertion.

Generally speaking / in general, people that rely more on online shopping are youngsters. They are familiar with this technology and hence feel more comfortable buying things online. They prefer online shopping because it is convenient and allows them to save money. As more and more people will become tech-savvy in the coming years, the popularity of online shopping will only continue. Even so, it is not safe to assume that online stores will fully replace physical stores.

Brick and mortar stores have some advantages that online stores do not possess. For example, they are perfect for last minute purchases. As soon as we make payment we can take the items home. There is no waiting period involved at all. Because of these reasons, outlets selling food, vegetables, milk, medicines and other fast perishing goods will continue to exist in the coming decades as well. There are also many people who refuse to buy things online because they believe that they cannot ensure the quality of the product when they place the order online. They will also continue to rely on physical stores in future.

To conclude, though the ecommerce platforms have significant merits, the chances of them fully replacing physical stores are slim. They cannot fulfill the immediate needs of people and hence people will continue to visit neighbourhood stores in the coming decades as well.
