There is no doubt that online shopping has become very popular over the last few years. Many people believe that because of the advancement of online shopping, small business and shops in metros will shut down. I completely agree with this view.
To begin with, there is a rampant increase in internet usage in recent times. Moreover, every individual has cell phones in their hand, which enable them to access the shopping websites 24*7. To cite an example, Amazon, the biggest online seller has reported a 200% increase in online shopping as the internet grows in all parts of the towns. They are forecasted to grow even faster with every passing year. Thus, the growth of the internet plays a vital role in the increasing popularity of online shopping and may result in the closing down of small shops.
In addition, online stores sell products at much lower prices than retail shops. Because online retailers buy products directly from the manufacturers, they get low buying price. Whereas products in retail shops have to go through multiple hands and involves commission every time they change hands. To illustrate, all the electronics products such as laptops and mobile phones are much cheaper on the internet than in the shops. Therefore, more and more people get attracted to online shopping due to the better price.
To conclude, increased access to the internet and better prices online have encouraged more and more people to buy from online stores. Before long, this will lead to the closure of corner stores.

It is true that online shopping has become increasingly popular these years due to its convenience. While some people argue that all physical shops in towns and big cities will be replaced by online shops, I personally disagree with this statement completely.
Online shopping is not able to bring shoppers the most satisfactory shopping experience. Physical stores, however, provide customers with real shopping feelings, because they can try on the clothes that they like, put things into shopping baskets and then check them on the counter directly. People who often buy clothes online may find it time-consuming to wait for their parcels and even find the item completely different in the end because the picture presented on the ecommerce portals / shopping sites is way too misleading. If they are not satisfied with the delivered product, they have to go through the hassle of returning it. This might take another week or so depending upon how far they are from cities.
What’s more, not every physical store can be replaced by online stores. Pharmacies, for example, will continue to exist. You can’t order medicines online and then wait a week or so for them to be delivered. Likewise, if you run out of groceries or other essentials and then discover it only at the time of cooking meals, you will rush to the nearest store. You won’t login to Amazon. Likewise, perishable items like fruits and vegetables are best purchased from physical stores. So, obviously, it is not possible for online stores to replace all physical stores.
To conclude, although we have to admit the convenience and new lifestyle that online shopping has brought us, it still cannot completely take the place of the physical stores in cities or towns because of some inherent downsides of online shopping.

Shopping from online stores has gained significant popularity primarily due to the ease of access and varied choices available on a product. Some people argue that in the near future, physical shops will be obsolete. However, I believe that cannot be the case owing to many different aspects of virtual shopping that will be discussed in this essay.
To begin with, as a matter of fact when an individual shops online, they must wait several days for the product to get delivered; however, this is not always convenient. For instance, if a person has to attend a meeting or an event at a very short notice, he will instantly rush to the nearby market to buy attire suitable for the occasion. Additionally, there are certain products which cannot wait to arrive. Medicines and pharmaceutical products are one such; they need to be immediately available, which is possible through offline stores only. Therefore, disappearance of such stores from our urban, sub-urban or rural areas is not quite possible.
Furthermore, purchasing from local outlets and shops of a city is undoubtedly a more reliable option when it comes to ensuring the quality of the product since one can inspect any product oneself before buying it. Even if some issues occur later, one can go back anytime and request for exchange or complain about any product not matching the advertised standards. However, when people order online, they will always be skeptic about what product they will be receiving. There have been several cases when customers complained about the delivered item not meeting their expectations. The complaint resolution mechanisms in such cases will involve the customer sending the product back and waiting for the replacement to arrive. This can take up to two weeks. Because these reasons, the traditional method of visiting the shops in person to buy what one needs will not be out of fashion for a long time.
To conclude, this trending way of shopping stuff from the comfort of one’s home through internet is certainly convenient and popular, but it cannot lead to the shutting down of brick and mortar outlets and stores in our neighbourhoods.
