There is no doubt that art is important but it is debatable whether it should be sponsored by the government. Some people insist that the government is wasting money on arts. In their opinion, it is important to spend this money on more useful things. I agree with this view.

For one thing, arts promotions and events can be organized by many other private organizations or society clubs and you do not really need a government intervention to run the show.  There are many clubs such as Lion’s club or YMCC clubs that can take the initiative and sponsor such events.  For example, a music program or an exhibition of paintings can be organized by a local club and there is no need for the government to sponsor it. There are also many rich people who take pleasure in sponsoring art shows and programmes.

When the government does not have to spend money on arts it can focus on developing core areas like education, healthcare and infrastructure. Poverty, illiteracy and malnutrition are still a major problem in many countries around the world. For example, in India, millions of students still do not go to school. Likewise, there are numerous homeless people. Therefore, instead of spending the public funds on arts, the government should try to improve the health of its people. It should ensure that all children are going to school and they have access to good food and potable water.

In conclusion, while arts events and programmes are important for the society, they should not be sponsored by the tax money contributed by people. The government should focus on more important areas and use its money for the benefit and upliftment of the human society.

People have different views about the money that the government is spending on arts. Some believe that funding the works in the realm of art would sabotage the country’s financial resources and there are other areas in which the money should be invested. I tend to contradict with this view as I think that it is the responsibility of the government to allocate sufficient amount of budget to arts as it is directly associated with cultural developments, publicity, and economy of a country.

Firstly, art has strong roots in the culture of a nation, and it is necessary to protect and grow it to maintain the culture and heritage of a country. Therefore, the governments ought to be accountable for supporting arts and traditions of the states. For instance, there are many priceless pieces of artworks that need a massive deal of money to be preserved in national museums. If it was not for the financial support of the government, many of those artworks would have been decayed throughout the time.

Secondly, the government spending on arts can help to introduce new successful local and international artists. It is manifest that the artists play a pivotal role in each society as the role models of the younger generation. Therefore, it is necessary to provide them with adequate money resources in order to consolidate their skills and qualifications. This enables them to introduce their works not only to the local communities but also to the world. As a result, this would bring excellent publicity to the nation by introducing talented celebrities, accomplished artists, and professional stars. Furthermore, it these people would inspire the younger talents and motivate them to apply themselves in their profession.

Finally, allocating enough funds to art can be advantageous as it contributes to the economy of the country. There are thousands of job opportunities which can be created by the artists. For instance, in many parts of the planet, the handicraft stores are the inevitable part of the tourist attractions and sites. It means that the local people would get benefited by demonstrating their products, culture, and art through these places. It can bring an enormous source of income to the country through the tourism industry.

In conclusion, although some people may criticize the government authorities for allocating the budget to arts, I think this money is spending in the right place and would be economically beneficial to the country in the long term.
