Some people argue that development in technology has contributed a lot to reducing criminal activities in the society. I agree with this view. The technological development such as global positioning system, shortly called GPS has helped to solve many crimes. In other words, with the help of GPS tracking system, the security forces like the police force, have solved many crimes by finding the criminal’s location. The offender’s mobile and car locations can be easily tracked with the GPS, so it becomes easy for the police to arrest and interrogate the criminal and solve the crime sooner. So, the technological improvements like these are helping the police to solve crimes as soon as possible.

In the same way, the CCTV cameras are also helping a lot to prevent crimes. Important and crowded places such as banks, shops and railway stations are under the surveillance of this camera and this has made these places a lot safer. As a result, it has become easy to find out the culprit by referring to the stored footage, even if the offense happened many days ago. Additionally, as an result of this development, criminals are hesitating to enter the area which is under surveillance and hence the crime rate has declined.

In a nutshell, the innovations like CCTV cameras, and GPS tracking systems are helping to prevent and solve crimes and, hence, when compared to the past, the crime rate has decreased due to the technological development.
