The chart illustrates how often Americans used to eat in fast-food restaurants from 2003 to 2013. Overall, there had been a prominent decline in the categories of those who were eating many times in a week and those who were eating once a week while the share of those who were having fast foods once or twice a month had increased to around 33% from 30% in the beginning. In 2003, the proportion of the population who were eating fast food frequently within a week was almost 17% and it surged to 20% in 2006 and settled at 16% in 2013. A similar trend was noticed among the group who was consuming restaurant junk food once a week. However, people who went once or twice a month were 30% in 2003 and it plunged to 25% in 2006. Finally, their share reached 33% at the end of the period. Interestingly, the trend for everyday eaters and the ones who did not like to eat outside at all were alike, under 5%.
