The given chart shows the top five mobile phone brands and the sales made by them in three years – 2009, 2011 and 2013. While Samsung and Apple gained more sales over the years, Nokia and LG registered a downward trend in the number of sales. Apple started with the lowest number of sales (25 million) but we could see a drastic change in the growth of the said brand. In 2013, they sold 150 million units. If we compare the growth ratio, clearly, Samsung had the highest leap in growth and Apple was in the second position. ZTE, on the other hand, did grow over the years but it wasn’t as commendable as that of the other two brands. Nokia sold the highest number of handsets (440 million) in 2009. However, their sales plummeted over the next four years and in 2013, Nokia sold only 250 million handsets. LG, too, suffered a drop in sales but it was more gradual. Overall, from the given chart we can see that Samsung and Apple were the fastest growing mobile phone brands during the given period whereas Nokia and LG suffered the biggest drop in sales. While Samsung’s sales doubled over the period, Apple saw its sales growing by six times.
