Curriculum for a subject is devoloped based on the history, current evidence and consensus of the expert. However, the subject keeps on changing and advancing with time. I
believe, to determine a change as a deviation from the past, we should be thorough with the static body of knowledge.
The study of a particular subject always starts with the brief history and proceeds towards the progress made based on that history. History provides us with the wealth of
knowledge about the mistakes made and how they were corrected later. The knowledge from so many years helps the students to understand the subject in depth and analyse any
changes better. Some subjects have a huge scientific evidence for the theories and hypothesis which are backed by robust study methodology. It would be foolish to disregard
such a body of evidence when we come across with an alternative point of view.
The advance in technology has made it simple to acquire knowledge from many sources. It enriches different aspect of the subject with studies and researches from all over the
world. On top of this, we have opinions and hypothesis made by eminent people who have spent their lifetime in developing the subjects. It is like a distilled output from this huge knowledge and experience. Once the students are thorough with the study materials till date, they can develop their own opinion as they face the challenges of the future.
To conclude, the best curriculum is the one based on the static body of knowledge. Without a good base provided by such knowledge, chances are high that the student may
commit the same mistakes that have already been made and the solutions are also made available for such mistakes. The knowledge makes them confident to face any
changes in the future.
