Technology is flourishing by leaps and bounds and e-learning has become quite popular. Even so, I believe that the traditional method of learning from a teacher in the classroom is more beneficial than learning from digital sources.
To commence with, a teacher can mould a student better and learning from them can help students to stay attentive and avoid distraction. Furthermore, the teacher can track the student’s progress regularly which in turn will help students to concentrate more on their studies whereas other sources like the internet do not have the ability to guide students actively. To illustrate, my son could not learn efficiently via e-learning during the pandemic time but he is comfortable now after going to school because his teacher is easily accessible and he can clear his doubt then and there.
On the other hand, one can argue about the growth and usage of e-learning. Of course, e-learning is also a good tool for students to use but the internet has a huge amount of data so students will definitely need help from teachers to find the correct information they need for their studies. Students are also more likely to be distracted when they use the internet as their source of learning. To cite an example, my niece is a class 11 student. She uses e-learning for her studies, but she has numerous social media tabs opened when she learns via the internet. As a result, she is distracted and cannot concentrate on the subject.
To conclude, while it is true that students can benefit from other sources of information, they learn more from their teachers. Teachers not only teach, they also track the progress of their students and encourage them to work harder.
