Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample

A number of universities have started offering courses online so that students can learn from the comfort of their home / students can learn without leaving their home. I strongly believe that this is a positive development.

The first reason is that it enables international students to save the cost of traveling and accommodation. To explain, since classes are held using the online applications such as Skype, Viber and Whatsapp, these pupils are able to attend the lecture from this native place. For example, many Indian students have opted to pursue IT course from the Canadian University online rather than moving to Canada for attending this professional course. Clearly, this facility of online learning has eased the financial burden on many pupils.

Another reason is that it helps learners to save themselves from racial discrimination. When people relocate to another nation for pursuing higher studies, they often face racism, be it in the form of mockery or slavery from the local pupils of the new area. For instance, the African students have stated that they always face racist attacks because of their black skin colour while pursuing graduation in some Asian or European countries. These racist attacks are a cause of distress for most international students. Students studying online can save themselves from such situations. They can also save a lot of money because online classes are cheaper. Also, they do not have to worry about living expenses in a foreign country when they study online.

In conclusion, online classes are cheaper and more convenient and enable students to acquire international qualifications without leaving their country and hence in my opinion, they are a positive development.
