It is often said that in primary schools, the value of various art subjects is equivalent to that of other subjects. I totally agree with this opinion and I will show how such subjects can help children to discover their talents and fight boredom.
One of the advantages of teaching such subjects at primary school is that it helps children to discover their true talents at an early age itself. This is because when students are studying at primary level their brains are more receptive to new ideas. This means if they start earlier, they will become competent professionals when they turn into adults. Learning art subjects also help children combat boredom. Few kids have a natural interest in academic subjects. Also they have short attention spans. When ‘boring’ subjects like maths or science are taught along with ‘interesting’ subjects like dance or painting, learning becomes easier for children.
Art subjects also help with normal mental development of children. This is because art forms deal with various emotions and through songs, dance and paintings students can express those emotions constructively. They make children articulate.
In conclusion, due to the significance of these subjects in children’s professional and personal development, I firmly assert that these subjects should be taught in primary school.
