Free universal healthcare has been a topic of discussion for many people. While some people support this idea, there are others who are against it. In my opinion, healthcare should be totally for poor people, but those who can afford it should bear at least a portion of the costs.

Many people believe that healthcare is a fundamental right which should be available to every person irrespective of age, income or religion. According to them, necessity of this right has been reinstated more than ever in the current testing times of pandemic we are struggling with. These people also argue that free healthcare by the government can help increase the longevity of its working population and thus strengthen the economy.

On the other hand, there are some people who are not in favor of free universal healthcare. They often argue that this benefit is abused by a major section of the society and at the same time, it burdens the other section with increased healthcare taxes/premiums. In other words, under the free healthcare system, the financially disadvantaged group enjoys benefits disproportionately.

In conclusion, the government should step in and endeavor to provide free healthcare when people are not able to afford expensive medical treatments. The section of the society, which is able to afford it, can pay a portion of the bill and the government should bear the other portion.  In this way, the healthcare costs will be spread between the government and its citizens. The government will also be able to reduce the mortality rates of its entire population.
