Band 8 IELTS essay sample

A segment of society believes that young people are unsuitable for crucial positions in the government, whereas others argue that it is beneficial for the youth / youngsters to work in / occupy influential posts. I personally advocate the latter view to a large extent. In the following paragraphs both aspects of this notion have been discussed and my viewpoint is supported.

On the one hand, the main reason why people refuse to delegate key responsibilities to the younger generation is their lack of experience and inability to make mature decisions. A person with inadequate knowledge could be a threat to the nation. Furthermore, the youth are generally considered as short-tempered and these temperamental issues sometimes result in controversies in our community. For Instance, Tejasvi Surya, a cabinet minister gave some provocative speech on social media, which resulted in communal tension in many parts of the country.

On the other hand, others consider it important to depute next generation on pivotal positions, due to the fact that youngsters are extremely enthusiastic and passionate. In addition, they have strong desire to change the society by eliminating the evils like corruption and poverty. In the recent years, many candidates under 25 joined / made it to the prestigious civil services, where they are doing tremendous job to figure out problems at the fundamental level. In addition, young people possess exceptionally good decision making abilities, which give quick solution to various issues. For example, the deployment of youngsters in management posts in banks has improved the productivity and customer service to a considerable level.

In my opinion, young people should be given the chance to work in prominent roles / positions as they are the future of a nation. If older people dominate the key roles in administration, in the coming decade the entire world will face a huge scarcity of good leadership and directorship. However, some set of rules should be imposed on youngsters working in key positions to control and train them to work in an appropriate way. Probation period of a few years could be a good measure to create a disciplined and competent work environment for them.

From the discussion above, it is quite evident that giving chances to the young generation to work in responsible positions is the need of the hour, but some regulations should always be there to regulate their actions for an organized and balanced society.
