Band 7 IELTS essay sample

A particular section of individuals believe that the primary issue associated with the education system of developing nations is the methods of teaching whereas others opine that shortage of teaching resources is the main concern. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss both the perspectives.

The way of teaching in developing countries is totally different from that in developed nations. Firstly, poor countries use the traditional method of teaching that comprises of lecturing. In this method, the teacher delivers the lecture to a group of students and the group contains students of various intellectual levels. Hence, certain topics could be difficult for some students to understand. Secondly, the students find this method boring and lose their interest in their studies. To elaborate, sometimes students fall asleep in the class as there is no interaction between the teacher and the students. Lastly, due to low wages the teachers do not want to take any effort to teach the students.

On the other hand, lack of teaching resources is also a crucial problem in developing countries. There are numerous sophisticated devices which enhance teaching and learning. However, these are not affordable for the poor countries. Moreover, the internet is an essential component of the modern education but due to its cost some poor countries cannot make it accessible in all the parts of their nation. Apart from this, the government of poor countries is not capable of providing some other amenities such as transportation, libraries and school buildings as they do not have enough money resources.

In conclusion, conservative teaching methodology and insufficient resources which pose a negative impact on the education system are the reasons for the low economic status of poor nations.

People have different opinions about what is the real problem of the poor educational system in less developed countries. In my opinion, both the inappropriate teaching approaches and short of supply in resources are contributing to this issue.

In many poor countries, teachers choose to impart knowledge in a negative way. They use repetitive teaching method to force students to memorise knowledge from different academic subjects. For example, most students remember the reason why rainbow have different colors by rote-learning. Secondly, teachers in those countries do not have sufficient levels of education or qualifications to provide students with advanced teaching approaches. Finally, many schools promote exam-orientated studying mode in order to get more students go to universities, as the competitive competition in those countries under the pressure of a huge population.

On the other hand, having less resources available is another major factor that causes the educational issues in those nations. In Africa, many children do not have access to schools or universities because of the poor transportation or expensive tuition fees, which leads to the low literacy rate in those areas. Furthermore, people are not willing to become a teacher in those places, as teachers are usually paid with a low salary than other occupations. Perhaps more importantly, the lack of well build infrastructure and facilities discourage the learning of students. For example, students do not have access to use the Internet which can actually open up the world to them.

In conclusion, I believe in some developing countries, the issue in their educational field is not only caused by the teaching method that are provided by teachers, but also the shortage on various of resources.
