While some people argue that in this age of technology, people are more dependent on one another, others counter this view and insist that people have become more and more independent. In my opinion, there is dependence at some level and independence at other levels.
Firstly, the ability to communicate without being physically present unleashes a new sense of freedom and possibility to explore. Human beings have been continuously evolving communication systems. Sitting in the comfort of your home, you can now get your work done, pay bills, buy things online and get food delivered to your doorstep. You can wish friends or relatives on their birthdays without even having to call them. In this way, technology has made people independent. There is much you can accomplish without leaving your home and without personally interacting with anyone.
On the other hand, segregation of responsibilities has made people more dependent on specialists even for trivial tasks. With advancement in every other field of study, subject matter experts are becoming more common nowadays. For instance, the specialization in the field of medicine has increased tenfold in the last five years. People are increasingly finding it difficult to do general things and are in favour of delegating work that is not their area of specialty. This can be seen in the case of household responsibilities as well. People in cities tend to depend on caretakers and maids for getting their domestic chores done unlike joint families in rural areas.
In my opinion, the modern world has altered the lifestyle and communication in unimaginable ways providing greater level of global connectivity. Admittedly, there is always a certain level of dependency attached to any advancement. If there is one thing that history has taught us, it is that we human beings will always strive to push the limits to taste freedom and independence.

In the modern society, many people believe that dependence is the new trend in their day to day life while others reject this notion. In this essay I shall explain my point of view by analyzing both sides of the argument.
At the outset, new working styles require people to cooperate and collaborate with one another. In order to get better results, companies expect outstanding effort and hard work from every department. This requires teamwork. Since people are more prone to working overtime and doing late night shifts, they are not able to handle the workload all alone. They need to be dependent for additional support at any cost. Apart from this, it has been seen that working people depend on their parents and grandparents for babysitting as it is not feasible for them to take care of their babies because of poor time management and hectic busy schedule.
In contrast, every individual has become a digital nomad these days. They are financially independent. Also, due to advancements in technology, they are now capable of working more than one job and that too from the comforts of their home. Furthermore, many of them now lead extremely private lives as their parents do not interfere in their personal affairs. They want to prove themselves as capable, independent individuals who can live on their own.
In conclusion, I am convinced that people have become independent in some aspects of their life and dependent in others. They are financially and emotionally independent but at work, they often have to depend on their colleagues.
