Some people think that having a set retirement age (e.g. 65 years) for everybody, regardless of occupation, is unfair. They believe that certain workers deserve to retire and receive a pension at an earlier age. Do you agree or disagree? Which types of workers do you think should benefit from early retirement?

Band 6.5 IELTS essay sample
Today, it is obvious that people are doing different types of works that require different levels of effort. Because of that, we cannot say that the retirement age for every worker should be the same. In my opinion, the retirement age should be different depending on the type of work they do.
First of all, the physical effort had to be taken into consideration in determining retirement age. Explaining the reason: unskilled workers working in the field of mining, construction, and so on, requires physical ability to do the work irrespective of hot or cold weather leading them to poor health in the long run. For them, 65 years of retirement age is too much as they would be physically weak by that age.
Owing to the above reason, blue-collar workers are the first category of workers who should benefit from early retirement because the level of manual effort that they put in their work is more than what white-collar workers put in. In addition to that, they hardly get a pension due to their category of work. A country needs people to do all types of works. The government has to ensure that people from the labour category has to be treated well not only because of they are citizens but also they were an essential part of the country from a growth perspective.
To conclude, labourers should benefit from early retirement as well as pension considering their contribution to the growth of the country.
