Education plays a vital role in building a successful career path. It is thought by some people that students should only study the necessary subjects, such as science and technology, whereas others think that they should be given an opportunity to choose the subjects. In my opinion, I partially agree with the latter statement.
Regarding the choice of subjects offered to students, it is no wonder that these students might lack the necessary skills required to live an independent life. For instance, consider a student who has not chosen the English language, which is a must for effective communication skills. This student might find it difficult to converse with anyone and put forward their thoughts. Another illustration could be of a student who has not opted for science, and thus, fails to understand the technological advancements. Consequently, giving students the liberty to choose subjects might prove detrimental to their careers.
Turning to the restriction of allowing students to study only significant subjects can present some problems too. They are gaining the knowledge required to lead a fruitful future, but they might not be happy on this path. It is possible that due to the limited scope of subjects, they were forced to choose a field that they are not passionate about. In contrast, if they are offered a combination of useful and interesting subjects, they would be in a better position to live a happy and rewarding career.
In conclusion, although there are some negatives such as the lack of basic knowledge and unhappy long-term goals in these views when opted for separately, it is important to consider the positives that they together can bring, which I believe will be of substantial help in shaping a student’s life.
