It is argued that individuals should choose companions who have the same thinking and ideas as them; however, others opine that having friends of different opinions is more advantageous. In my view, it is better to have a group of friends who do not always have the same views as you do.

On the one hand, if companions have similar views, they will always support each other’s ideas. Moreover, there will be fewer chances of a heated argument between them. In addition to that, they will work on a problem using similar methods, so there are higher chances that they will get the solution quickly. For instance, students make their study groups with classmates who study in a similar fashion as they do because it makes them comfortable with each other, and they work as a team. Also, if friends have similar views, they will enjoy spending time together. There will also be plenty of activities of common interest.

On the other hand, when people choose / have friends with different views, it gives them multiple approaches to counter a situation, and mostly, such groups are more creative than others. Another advantage of having friends with different views is that you can look at a situation from different perspectives. For example, you may have a bad habit like smoking. If all of your friends are also smokers, you are doomed. On the other hand, if you have at least one close friend who does not smoke, he will try hard to encourage you to quit smoking.

To conclude, having friends with similar views may seem to be a good idea because of fewer conflicts and greater rapport. However, in my perspective, friends with different opinions form a productive and creative group, which is necessary for their future as well.
