Certain group of individuals spend most of their life in the same city. The most important reason for this is economical benefits and emotional attachment to their hometown. This essay will illustrate both advantages and disadvantages of the statement outlined above.

There are a number of benefits to staying in the same city as an individual is well accustomed to the traditions, customs and culture of that location. Further, family members and friends also follow same cultural pattern. In fact, one also gets enough mental and emotional support during rough patches of life from family. For instance, in India patriarchal system is practised a male child get property inheritance from parents so financially and economically it’s a profitable option as having enough financial security also reduce their chances for outmigration. Further, starting a new life in a different city requires enormous struggle.

The biggest disadvantage of staying in the same city is limited professional horizons and negligible opportunities. Further, living in a comfort zone does not let an individual to push his limits and life in a same city becomes mundane .So if such persons go to a different location they may suffer from a cultural shock as they are not able to accept the change in the place where they’re all living. For example, most of elderly parents visiting their children in different countries may not be able to adjust that place due to difference in their lifestyle.

To recapitulate, spending most of time in the same place offers numerous benefits but its negative effects outweigh the advantages in this modern competitive world.
