Band 8 IELTS essay sample
Some people believe that friends have more impact on teenagers than their guardians or mentors. I agree with the assertion because friends spend more time together and there is no generation gap between them.
The primary reason for better understanding between friends is the amount of time they spend together. For example, on average two teenagers spend around eight hours in the school and four hours playing together. So, it is natural for a person to be influenced by the other persons with whom he spends most of his time. Peer pressure is another factor that encourages teenagers to copy their friends. Therefore, the friends have more impact in the life of a juvenile than their parents.
The second reason for this might be the generation gap. For example, a study conducted by the Harvard University found that music interest plays an important role in the development of bonding among teenagers. However, due to generation gap often parents and their children have different tastes in music. This is another reason for them to enjoy the company of their friends more. Additionally, it is observed that children are reluctant to share their private stuff with their parents. As a result, parents do not get enough opportunities to influence their children.
In conclusion, though many people think that parents and teachers have a greater impact on a child, I disagree with this statement. The main reasons are that young people spend minimum time with their parents and there is a generation gap between them.

It is indeed true that adolescents these days are much more inclined towards their friends rather than being motivated by their parents. This essay shall discussed the reason In the forthcoming paragraphs.
Young generation do not influenced any more by their parents but they will merely follow the advice of their friends. First and foremost reason is of same age group: it is noticeably observed that people loved the company of each other’s who are of same age as their mind work in the same direction and friends never abandoned as parents does. To paradigm, oxford university had made a survey between young adults and they opine their inclination towards their friends and they come up with the reason of mutual understanding and bond, special bond being shared between friends which is not happening between guardians.
To add further credence to my assertion, parents and teachers wants the phenomenonal career of children and hence they keep vigilance on their on going activities of day to day life and they abandoned if they find something wrong. In addition these days parents are highly active and expect from their child but today’s generation prolonged their activities a lot and make parents frustrated thereby they influenced by their friends not by parents and age difference matter too. Young youth are utterly adroit and they loved to go on adventures and when they reach to their parents they get no in return and since friends are the one who walk side by side and that’s the main reason people follow and influenced by their mate.
To recapitulate, I do agree and believe that young individuals are highly influenced by their friends but they should take some kind of guidance from their parents as they are the ones who will stand with them
In their thick and thin.
