People have different beliefs regarding the reasons behind children’s educational success. While some people believe that their success relies on the skills of the teachers, others argue that it depends on the students’ characteristics. In this essay, I will discuss both views and express my support for the former view.
On the one hand, indeed, being successful in any field requires high amount of efforts. Children should study hard to get desirable scores. To illustrate, no matter how well the teacher tries to explain the lesson to make the pupils comprehend the content, if the students are not willing to learn, they will not achieve their goal. This explains why in a class with the same teacher, students’ scores vary from low to top grades. In addition, a hard worker and a self-learner student can succeed even if the teacher is not good enough.
On the other hand, teachers have a significant impact on their students. A teacher can be one of the main reasons to motivate or demotivate the pupils. For instance, a child can detest mathematics, but if he likes his teacher, he will still try hard to get good grades to impress him. However, having a bad temper teacher who discourages the youths and makes them lose their self-esteem might lead to losing their interest to learn any lesson. Moreover, each teacher knows the weaknesses and strengths of their students, which can be used to motivate them to study better.
In conclusion, children need to be hard workers to be successful. However, teachers have a significant role in motivating the students. Had the teachers been more thoughtful, the unmotivated pupils would have been encouraged too.
