Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample
It is true that education plays a vital role in ensuring the prosperity of a nation. While some people believe that merely educating the masses can lead a country towards success, others argue that several other factors are equally important. I completely agree with the former statement and this essay will highlight how education propels a country towards economic and social progression.
First and foremost, educational institutions produce professionals, so that they may contribute to the betterment of the economy. For example, in Japan, from a plumber to a nuclear scientist one cannot work as a professional unless one undergoes the required practical training and obtains the mandatory certificate, degree or diploma from the concerned academic body. This practice helps educators and economists to work together and form beneficial economic policies since the entire data related to a worker’s roles and responsibilities, compensation and benefits, career progression and the like is available to them.
Secondly, a proper education system promotes high moral values which contribute positively to the development of a society. In addition, educated people are more aware of their rights and responsibilities and this enables to work together for the welfare of their nation. Education also helps eradicate corruption. It makes people aware that good governance is their right and then they will not want to pay bribes for getting things done. Educated people also tend to be healthier because they know what is good and bad for their health.
In conclusion, although there may be several factors that affect a country’s well-being, in my opinion, the education system is the cornerstone of economic and social progress.

It is true that a fraction of people articulate that education is the only significant factor in the development of a country. I totally agree with this statement, In this essay, I will discuss both factors with examples.
To begin with, education plays a major role in a countries development. Firstly the chances to find a job inside the country or abroad for an educated youth are comparatively easy. By getting a job in the early ages can provide a better future to their personal life as well as to the countries growth. Apart from this, getting a job in a foreign country can bring foreign currency to the country which will boost the country’s economy and foreign reserve. For an example, as per the World Banks statics of 2017 Indians abroad remit USD.69 billion to the country, which obviously boosts both economy and development.
On the other side, there are some disadvantages as well to education to the development of the country. For instance, in my country, a lot of youth is getting graduated every year and it is a very difficult and challenging part to the government to provide jobs to all these youths. Government is providing a monthly unemployment allowance to the youth and the Govt is spending a huge amount for this. This can lead the next generation lazy and this directly impacts an adverse effect on the economy. For example, in my country once you are completed with your graduation then you will not go for any job other than white collar job, even I was one of them.
To reiterate, although there are a lot many factors which boost the countries growth I totally agree with the viewpoint of education is the only critical factor in the development of a country.
This seems band 6.5 to me.
