Most people enjoy listening to music, in fact some people are of the opinion that music is a unifying force. Not only does it bridge the gap between generations, but it also brings people together from different civilizations. I entirely agree with this statement and shall justify it with relevant examples.
To start with, music appeals to everyone. Irrespective of their nativity people enjoy listening to music from various countries. In fact, musical collaborations are an excellent example to illustrate this point. Intercontinental collaborations such as the Beatles with Ravi Shankar, and A R Rehman with Andrew Lloyd Webber, have created amazing musical scores that are much loved by people. Even though, the above artists belonged to unique civilizations, there weren’t different from each other when it came to creating and enjoying music. Such interactions have improved relations between nations and encouraged the free flow of ideas and resources irrespective of international boundaries.
Similarly, music is a binding force between different generations. People across age groups often listen to music to relax and unwind themselves after a stressful day. These practices haven’t changed for years and are enjoyed by the young and old alike. For instance, in my family every evening after dinner, we get together to listen to some music; it is a daily ritual, despite our busy schedules. Even though we are a family spanning over three generations with different tastes in food and values, we do not miss a chance to meet over music.
To conclude, I entirely agree with the argument that music unites people. Listening to music is an activity enjoyed across cultures and it is a stress buster for all making cultural or language differences irrelevant.
