It is argued that the digital games have detrimental impact on the development of skills among young people when compared to authentic games. This essay strongly agrees with this assertion because these modern games make youngsters idle and isolate them from social interaction.
To begin with, the modern digital games make children sit idly for longer. These games are often played in mobile phones or computers making the players to sit inactively for several hours. This leads to a sedentary lifestyle among youngsters without adequate physical activities. For proper development of brain and for a good mental health, it is imperative to have enough physical exercise. The excessive use of modern games thus leads to poor brain development among children and thereby causes academic under performance. A recent study has show that more than 40% of the primary school students in India who play digital games have scored below the average marks consecutively.
Furthermore, the use of latest games has made the young people socially isolated. Children often play these games alone in a room or at the corner of the house away from their family and friends whereas, the traditional games are usually played in teams. This new trend has an adverse effect on the interpersonal skill development in children because they rarely interact with their peer group. The key skills that people should possess to become successful in their life such as teamwork and interpersonal communication skills are often dissuaded by these modern games. Nowadays, parents have to take their children for therapy sessions to develop basic communication skills that they could have developed naturally.
In conclusion, the modern digital games obviously have adverse effects on the skill development among young people as compared to authentic games as these make children inert and reduce communication with people.
