Band 8 IELTS essay sample

While some people believe that change is unavoidable and makes life interesting, others opine that stability is more important for mastering any skill. Personally, I think that doing the same thing repeatedly is essential to achieve success and have a good social life.

There are numerous benefits to focusing on one thing in life. To start with, it provides the required anchor and stability in life so that an individual can focus on mastering one skill. It is often seen that if someone has acquired extraordinary skills in one field, they have high probability of achieving success in their life. For example, it is well known that most of the successful individuals worked in one direction with least distractions to gain reputation and success which came by having a stable life.

However, some believe that change is unavoidable and it prevents from becoming boring. It is argued that if we do not try to push our boundaries, we would never know what we can achieve in life. So, change often pushes a person to test their limits and capabilities. However, in my opinion, this approach can be detrimental in the long term. Although change provides excitement and adrenaline rush, it is highly distracting and increases anxiety levels. A person with this mentality will avoid problems instead of facing them. Furthermore, the kind of focus required to learn and enhance any skill can only be achieved by avoiding unpredictability in life due to frequent changes.

In conclusion, while one cannot avoid the change completely, one should try to keep it at minimum level to acquire unmatched skills and talent in one field.

Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. Other people think that, in today’s world, subjects like Science and Technology are moe important than history.
Discuss both these views and give you own opinion.

People have different viiews in terms of the importance of subjectss taught in school. While some people emphasize the importance of history, others, whom I agree with, believe that subjects such as science and technology are even more crucial to children’s future development.

History is quite an important subject because it has several advantages to readers. Firstly, studying history is a great opportunity for young generation to grasp an in-depth understading about their culture and country. Secondly, most people find reading about their victorious ancestors motivating and it gives them a sense of pride. For example, Z.M.Babur, who ruled Andijan when he was 12 and later established an empire of Baburids in India which existed for about 300 years, is a great example for young children to realize how enormous success they can achieve. Furthermore, history keeps within itself secrets about methods used in agriculture and technology in the past which did not harm the nature in extensive amount. These methods, if found out and utilized currently, may prove to be practical as natural problems are the most concerning.

However, in today’s world where almost everything has a connection with science and technology, I believe that history can’t bring as many advantages to the students and the world as a whole as science and technology do. Nowadays, researching and inventing new useful technologies are two of the main priorities, and these are impossible without the expertise in science and technology. This results in high demand for workers who majored in these subjects. As a result, there is a very low possibility that students who have knowledge in these fields encounter difficulty finding a job or end up unemployed. According to a survey conducted by Harvard University, employment rate of students majoring in science and technology is 30% higher than that of students majoring in history.

In conclusion, history is a subject worth diving deep into because of the advantages it gives to readers, but I would argue that students can get even more benefits by studying science and technology.
