In life, most people fall into a routine which helps them to manage their daily activities, work well and helps to maintain physical and mental health. On the other hand, some have a less structured life style and still have a balanced life. There may be reasons to these contrasting approach to life and let us evaluate them.
People usually try to have a daily pattern of activities which are less stressful, more productive and enjoyable. For people who prefer such a life form a routine like at what time to wake up, doing things a certain way before going to studies or work and evening activities before going to bed. It may not be a conscious decision. It just happens to be their pattern which helps them to be organized with a set target for the milestones of the life. Such organized pattern is influenced considerably by the personality of the individual and upbringing. Such people get uncomfortable with change and if the change persists for long then they may have psychological distress. If certain way of doing things works then there is no need for change would be the principal and there is nothing wrong with it.
On the flip side, some individuals lead a lifestyle which changes constantly and still it works for them. They do take pride in their ability to handle a changing pattern and always seek new challenges. As it was mentioned before, such lifestyle is also a result of certain personality traits. They are usually ambitious, driven and have risk taking attitude. Sometimes this may have negative consequences such as complicated relationship, work place trouble and they tend to have substance use problem. But despite of all such risks, if they get by without any negative consequences then they have a colourful and enjoyable life.
In conclusion, there is no single way of life which works to everyone. Depending up on their priorities, people find a best possible way of doing things and if it is nor stressful and have less negative consequence then they will be happy in their life.
