Some people prefer to relax by doing physical activities, while others choose mental activities (crosswords and chess etc). Discuss both the views and given your opinion.

It is of paramount importance for our human bodies to get their daily dose of relaxation and rejuvenation. While some people find it more relaxing to spend their leisure time by doing brain exercise, I would agree with those who prefer doing physical activities.

On the one hand, some people prefer to spend their leisure time by doing intellectual activities such as solving sudoku puzzles or chess. Such activities are suitable for people who have laborious jobs that deplete their energy. After getting home, they will certainly not want to go for a run or hit the gym. Playing chess or solving crossword puzzles not only stimulate their intellect but also provide some relaxation. Another advantage of these activities is that they can be performed at home and at time. You don’t have to get out. This makes such activities suitable for climates.

On the other side, other people choose to work out in the gym or run in the neighbourhood to relax. Doing such activities would help us combat our unhealthy lifestyle habits. For example, studies show that running for an hour every day helps in relieving stress and reduces Cholesterol levels which, in turn, improves our fitness and health. Moreover, getting engaged in a physical activity helps you focus on your exercise and forget anything else related to work or life concerns. This is because such activities are done in groups or outdoors and this reduces the possible distractions.

Personally, I believe that intellectual leisure activities are more suitable for people whose jobs are physically demanding. Those who have a desk job should certainly flex their muscles during the free time. This is essential for their physical and emotional health.

    People have different views regarding the best way to exercise for relaxation. While some people think physical activities are best, other believe in mental exercises such as sudoku or chess. Personally, I believe that both forms of activities are good, and it depends on individual choice and circumstances.
    On the one hand, the mental activities have numerous benefits for people who does physical demanding job and has no energy left to spend in gym or stadium. Also, these games can help a person to get a good sleep which is of paramount importance to re-energize their physical body. Another advantage is that these games can be played anytime and anywhere. Thus, an individual does not have to depend on the outside climate and time.
    On the other hand, people who have desk jobs and they are mentally tired, physical activities are the best way to relax. Although it seems that they do not have energy left to go to gym or play any sports, once they perform any physical activity they will feel more relax. Furthermore, physical activities increase blood circulation, oxygen intake and sweat out harmful elements which reduces stress and even rejuvenate the mind.
    In my opinion, both kind of activities are important, and none is better than another, however it depends on one’s need and circumstances to adopt any form of exercise. I think every person should analyze which part of their body is inactive throughout their work hours. Then, should concentrate on that part and choose a method which helps them to relax.
    In conclusion, this essay discussed the role of physical or mental exercises in the relaxation of an individual. While both form of activities have their merits, it depends on personal preference and situation to choose anyone.
