Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample
It is a common belief that higher studies provide better jobs. However, some people opine that university education offers more benefits than improved career prospects. This essay will discuss both the views in detail.
On the one hand, education provides knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge in turn boosts one’s self confidence which reflects in one’s personality. It also develops sound understanding of the subject. All of these are instrumental and crucial to acquire a suitable job. Moreover, in today’s competitive world only the best will win. Hence a person lacking proper qualification and sufficient knowledge will lose the race and lag behind. A recent study by ‘Education Forum’ magazine suggests that the service sector recruited 75% graduates and 25% undergraduates the last year. This in itself shows how important higher education is to acquire a good job.
On the other hand, education not only benefits one’s career but also changes their outlook towards life and society. Knowledge helps to develop strong reasoning and analytical skills. This empowers people with the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, good and bad. Educated people refrain themselves from blindly following any superstitious beliefs. One educated person can educate the entire family and their surroundings. Moreover, knowledge develops moral values of people and makes them responsible citizens. For instance, if we look back at history the great Raja Rammohun Roy and Vidyasagar struggled hard to eradicate social evils like SuttidahaPratha, child marriage etcetera. And they were all well qualified people who fought against such social norms which were very common those days.
To conclude, I am of the opinion that University education has a larger role to play than just provide good jobs to people.
In what ways are music and other arts important for societies and for individuals?
Every culture has its own types of art and music. Some people said that the idea of music is universal which the importance of this kind of art is crucial in individuals and societies. There are several reasons for this phenomenon. In this essay, I will discuss some of the reasons behind this.
Music and arts are one type of expression of real life. Through music, people express feelings and emotions for certain situations and in general, based in habits and behaviors of the daily aspects of human life. For instance, it is common to see in the art and music how to show the idea of expressions of love, pain, and other emotions of the human being.
Art is a reflection of the society were we live. It is for this reason that art is considered one of the most important aspect to study one society or culture. The historians have significant research about this idea. They argue that study the art and music of one time and culture is crucial for understanding who these people explained the world between fiction and reality.
Music and art are one type of tool of political and social resistance in specific culture. Art is also resistance when the political and social situation in one specific context occurred. It is often said that art is used for individuals to make a creation of political perspectives. For example, the feminist movement created different performances to show the world the political violence against the body of the women.
To summarise, the music and arts, in general, have a considerable impact in the life of people and also in the community and societies. In this essay has provided a series of reason which support this argument.
This seems band 6.5 to me.
It is believed that the goal of education at the college level is to prepare students for better employment. However, others feel that college education provides other advantages for people as well as society. In my opinion, I believe that college education offers a wide array of benefits.
On the one hand, many people think that higher learning enables people to secure a good job. Many high-paying jobs require people with an exceptional educational qualification, so it essential for people to gain adequate knowledge in order for them to qualify for positions which offer high wages. Furthermore, if young graduates lack the foundation knowledge, their choices of employment will be limited, and as a result, they might settle for underpaid jobs that cannot provide them with the means to improve their standard of living.
On the other hand, it is often believed that there many other advantages of university education for graduates and society asides the job aspect. One advantage is the opportunity to develop oneself. As students are often required to work in groups and participate in presentations, they develop skills such as communication and team working skills which are useful for their future. Another benefit is that there will be reduced crime in society. Owing to the fact that people who have graduated are likely to have developed moral and ethical values, they should behave responsibly by staying away from criminal acts and violence.
In conclusion, while people may vary in their opinion, I feel that higher institutes of learning help people to acquire inter-personal skills and teach them to become responsible citizens.
