Homeschooling has received a lot of attention due to its flexibility and a certain percentage of academic effectiveness compared to the conventional form, so the vast majority of people willingly support this approach of teaching. However, I cannot adhere to this point of view, as I believe that traditional schooling has its own advantages in the form of helping in the development of vital skills or finding like-minded people.
There are a range of benefits of home education such as flexibility and freedom to pursue a study programme, which suits the needs of pupil. Furthermore, it has benefits in mental health of the child, because in public schools, children begin to compare themselves with their peers in terms of knowledge, social status and appearance, feeling pressure from this. Especially, for example, when boys and girls begin to grow up, this is reflected externally, acne appear on the face or someone of the peers quickly become taller that the smaller children begin to worry about their height. Thus, studying at home, the student is less stressed about competition and comparison, which is beneficial for the child’s mental health.
On the other hand, the public schools offer a social environment where children acquire important life skills. For instance, there they become loyal, tolerant to others because they meet the myriad people who are quite different in their worldview and opinion on life. Also, it assists to develop leadership and organizational skills, as there are opportunities to participate in various social long with academic events. Lastly, definitely, traditional schooling contributes to find like-minded peers, which requires much effort in homeschooling.
In conclusion, both type of teaching methods have own benefits, yet I still tend to believe that education in public schools is necessary and important for the develop communication skills of the child.
