According to some people, blue collar and white collars jobs should receive the same remuneration. I do not agree with this view. In my opinion, educated people should be paid more than manual labourers.
The Jobs performed by both the classes are very different from each other. Jobs that involve manual work are the kind of jobs that require little or no qualification. As a result, the amount of wages paid for these jobs is very low. Jobs like those of construction workers or miners do not require any special skills; hence, they are usually performed by people who lack formal / educational qualifications.
Certain jobs require high level of knowledge and skills which can only be found in highly qualified people. For example, jobs like those of a software engineer or data analyst requires specific knowledge about computer software and technical development due to which money that they get paid is relatively very high when compared to to the wages of a manual worker.
If a manual worker and a qualified individual end up earning the same amount of money, then the value of education will decline. People invest a lot of money in education hoping that one day they will have a promising career with a high pay package and if they see that the people with no qualification are also getting paid the same then they will lose interest in education. Education is the foundation of a country’s development and lack of qualified workforce will eventually effect the country’s development.
In conclusion, the amount of pay should not be the same for manual workforce and highly qualified persons. Pay package should be based on the level of education and the experience of the individual.
