Children are crucial part of the society who will lead future with their perceptions and endeavors. Importance of decision making by children which was always debatable has now become more controversial with many people claiming it is beneficial while others reject this notion. This essay will through some light on both views and will provide my opinion about this matter.
On one hand, the most preponderant one stems from the fact that students who are given the freedom to choose for themselves becomes more confident in the long run and their decision-making ability is enhanced. For instance, a recent survey has indicated that adults who have been following their own instincts are less confused and their vision in terms of their goals are clear. Therefore, parents should always encourage their kids to make their own choices.
On other hand, there are some pitfalls that negate these arguments, and which can certainly overwhelm the potential influence of this trend but one of the most alarming one is that some are afraid that such practice may lead to not becoming a better individual and would turn out to be selfish. Those individuals would disregard any suggestion given by others by prioritizing their own choice. Hence, it is apparent why many are against this trend.
To conclude, choices of essential elements such as food, clothing and entertainment should individually be made by the children without any external interference for the overall growth of their personality. Nevertheless, its potential drawbacks should not be overlooked either.
